How long have you been with Infinity Foods, and what drew you to work here?
I have been at Infinity for 28 years. I met another cooperative member, Mandy, when we worked together at Brighton Pride. I was working for UPS at the time and she mentioned that they needed another HGV driver, so I went for an interview and they haven't been able to get rid of me since!
What does a typical working day look like for you?
I mainly work on Health & Safety within the cooperative. I like the thought of keeping my work colleagues safe so they can go home to their families after work. Some say it's a thankless task but I disagree. It was hard work training for the role as there is so much law involved and there is always new legislation coming through which we need to incorporate. I have the honour of working with my wonderful colleague Neil, plus I tend to jump on anything that may need doing, like collating orders or keeping the place clean and tidy.
What most surprised you when you came to work at Infinity?
I was most surprised at how our business runs without any managers!
Do you have a favourite product or brand on the shelves at Infinity?
My favourite product is Super Muesli, as I'm a breakfast sort of gal. I also love all the lovely kombucha we have.
What did you do last weekend?
Last weekend I had to travel up to Lincolnshire to see some of my family that still live up there. It has to be one of the most boring routes ever.
What makes you most happy?
The thing that I enjoy the most is singing with my small acapella group – there are only three of us. We rehearse once a week, fuelled by chocolate and wine.
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life and not get bored of it, what would you choose?
The meal that I would eat every single day is my partner's Sunday roast. So delicious.
